What should I do if My Ear Ripe?

Ear Ripe

The human ear has three parts: external ear, middle ear and inner ear. If pus or water falls from the ear, then it should be understood that it is middle ear disease. Common people call it ripe ears. It can occur at any age. However, this disease is more common in children in our country. Again, the disease is more common among the people of the village than the people of the city due to various reasons.

Why Ear Ripe

We all have a tube called the Eustachian tube in our skull, with one end in the middle ear and the other end in the nasopharynx behind the nose. In children, this tube is short, wide and perfectly straight. So when mothers feed breast milk or bottle milk or any liquid, if the baby's head is not held a little higher, this liquid may go to the middle ear. After this, the middle ear can become infected and cause earache.

Children with frequent colds, frequent upper respiratory tract infections, recurrent tonsil infections, sinusitis from frequent colds, enlarged adenoids—the normal function of the Eustachian tube is reduced. Due to these reasons, at first sudden severe pain and fever in the ear, then the eardrum leaks and water comes out. If proper treatment is not taken at that time, the hole in the screen becomes permanent. Later, when there is an infection, water or pus starts coming out of the ear repeatedly. This problem can also occur in adults if they suffer for a long time.

If the eardrum is perforated due to trauma and if immediate treatment is not taken, after cold, cough, sore throat, the membrane may weaken and pus or water may come out of the ear.

How to understand Ear Ripe

1. Pus discharge is a sign of ear infection. This fluid may be odorous or odorless. Sometimes the pus may be mixed with blood. There is a type of ear infection, where the ear is dry for a few days, and wet for a few days, i.e. water or pus comes out. Another type of ear infection never dries the ears.

2. Hearing loss and blocked feeling in the ears, even discomfort all the time.

3. Ringing in the ears or inside the head, dizziness, loss of balance.

4. Sudden inflammation can cause fever with severe pain in the ears.

Treatment of Ear Ripe

If there are other symptoms of ear infection including copious pus discharge, the patient is treated with oral antibiotics, antibiotic ear drops, nasal drops and antihistamines depending on the age. Some mandatory rules are also asked to be followed. For example, do not take a bath with a dip, do not swim. Earplugs or coconut oil-soaked cotton in the ears while bathing. Avoiding cold, not eating refrigerator water, ice cream. Do not clean the ears excessively. It is absolutely forbidden to clean the ears by inserting cock feathers, the tip of a piece of paper, a match stick, the tip of a pen, etc.

In most cases, this type of treatment brings the infection under control. The eardrum also closes. If the pore is large and puss comes out repeatedly, the medicine often does not work. In that case there is a wait of three to six months. If, after six months, it does not connect, the hearing is reduced, then the curtain is connected through a small surgery. But in that case the ears should be dry.

Early ear infections can be prevented if treated properly.
